Policy Brief 2026 HakiRaslimali
Extractives and Human Rights : Strengthening due Diligence, Private Security Operations, and Grievance Mechanisms under the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights in Tanzania.
While nearly 33 countries have adopted National Action Plans (NAPs), Tanzania remains in the development phase, lagging behind neighbours Kenya and Uganda.

This policy brief presents Tanzania’s progress toward its NAP-BHR, identifying key gaps in corporate responsibility within the extractive sector. By focusing on due diligence, private security, and grievance mechanisms, the brief illustrates the urgent need for explicit enforcement to prevent and address human rights infringements.
